New Deichman Library Oslo

Not just a library

In 2019, a brand new main library building was opened in Bjørvika, called Deichman Bjørvika. This library replaced the former main library in Kvadraturen and has become an architectural and cultural gem in Oslo. Deichman Bjørvika offers a wide range of books, magazines, audiobooks, films, and other media available to the public. Additionally, it also hosts various events, workshops, and exhibitions. 

The new Deichmann Library is not only a library, but also a tourist attraction with a wide range of activities for visitors and a great view of central Oslo 

The main library of the Oslo Public Library is located in the Bjørvika district and is known as "Deichman Bjørvika." This modern and architecturally striking building opened in 2020, replacing the previous main library. It is a cultural hub, offering not only a vast collection of books but also various cultural events, workshops, and exhibitions.  

The library aims to be an inclusive and accessible space for all, regardless of age, background, or interests. They offer a wide range of services, including free borrowing of materials, computer and internet access, events and activities for both adults and children, as well as guidance and assistance from librarians.
